Safaree Samuels is a Jamaican-American rapper, songwriter and television personality. He started his musical career in the group the Hood stars. After the group split, Safaree went into a solo career and has released four mixtapes. In 2016, Safaree joined the cast of the VH1 reality show, Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood and later in 2017, he moved back to his hometown of New York City and joined the Love & Hip Hop: New York cast.

Samuels began his musical career in the group the Hood stars, which was formed in the early 2000s with rappers Nicki Minaj, Lou$tar and Seven Up. The group recorded the entrance song for WWE Diva Victoria, “Don’t Mess With”, in 2004, and it was featured on the compilation album ThemeAddict: WWE The Music, Vol.6. Later after the group disbanded, Nicki Minaj started her solo career and Safaree supported her as a hype man.
Safaree, in 2010, co-wrote the single “Did It On ’em” for Nicki Minaj’s debut studio album, Pink Friday and in Nicki Minaj’s second album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, which was released in 2012, Safaree has six writing credits and was featured on the track “Press Conference”. He also appeared in Minaj’s music video “Stupid Hoe” in 2012.
Later in late 2014, Safaree ended his long relationship with Nicki Minaj. A few tracks on Minaj’s third album, The Pinkprint, are believed to have been inspired by the end of their relationship. Samuels began focusing on his own music career and in 2015, he released It Is What It Is and It Is What It Is, Vol. 2 mixtapes. In 2016, Samuels made an appearance in the second season of K. Michelle: My Life.
It was later announced in May 2016, that he would be joining the cast of the VH1 reality show, Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood’s third season. That very same year, in July, he released a mixtape, Real Yard Vibes. Samuels also competed in the first season of VH1’s Scared Famous, which premiered in October 2017. He was honored with a Blue & Bougie Impact Award in February 2018.

Things turned sour between the two as they accused each other of cheating, lying and stealing in a public spat on Twitter.
In 2015, in an interview with The Breakfast Club hosts, Safaree said that he walked away when he started feeling disrespected. He said: “I just got to the point where the respect wasn’t there. Everyone around her works for her, you know? So it got the point where it was like, I’m your man. I’m who you go to sleep with every night. I’m who you wake up with every morning. And it got to the point where I was being treated like an employee, instead of like her man.”
